Overview

MOTS-c is a short mitochondrial-derived peptide encoded in mitochondrial DNA. It is researched for its effects on metabolism, insulin sensitivity, and exercise endurance. Interest has grown quickly because of its novel mechanism and potential to mimic some benefits of exercise.

Dosing

Injection

Starting dose
5 mg
Common dose
5–10 mg
Frequency
1–3× weekly
Notes
Reported protocols often use 10 mg three times weekly.

Reported research/reference doses for educational purposes only. Always verify against primary literature and applicable regulations. Not medical advice.

How it works

MOTS-c translocates to the nucleus and activates AMPK, a master regulator of cellular energy. This promotes glucose uptake, fatty acid oxidation, and mitochondrial biogenesis, which may improve insulin sensitivity and metabolic flexibility.

Common research uses

  • Metabolic and insulin-sensitivity research
  • Endurance and exercise-mimetic studies
  • Mitochondrial function research
  • Age-related metabolic decline studies

Considerations

Research compound with limited human data; most evidence comes from animal and cell studies. Handling requires care. Research use only.
