Overview

Thymosin Alpha-1 (Tα1) is a naturally occurring peptide produced by the thymus gland. It is a potent immunomodulator that influences T-cell maturation and function. It has been studied extensively for supporting immune responses, particularly in chronic infections and immunosuppressed states.

How it works

Tα1 enhances the maturation and activity of T lymphocytes and natural killer (NK) cells, and modulates cytokine production. By "priming" the immune system, it helps mount a balanced innate and adaptive immune response.

Common research uses

  • Immune system modulation
  • Supporting T-cell and NK-cell function
  • Chronic infection research
  • Immune recovery after stress or illness

Considerations

Used as a prescription in some countries for Hepatitis B and C. Generally well tolerated with a good safety record, but should be used under medical guidance.
