Overview

Human growth hormone (HGH, somatropin) is a peptide hormone produced by the pituitary gland and available as recombinant HGH (rHGH). It is not a research peptide in the usual sense: it is an FDA-approved prescription drug. Among fitness and anti-aging users it remains one of the most requested compounds for lean mass, recovery, and metabolic effects.

Dosing

Injection

1–2 IU
Common dose
2–4 IU
Frequency
1× daily (or divided)
Notes
Prescription only; monitor glucose and IGF-1.

Reported research/reference doses for educational purposes only. Always verify against primary literature and applicable regulations. Not medical advice.

How it works

HGH binds growth hormone receptors to stimulate IGF-1 production in the liver and tissues. This drives protein synthesis, lipolysis (fat breakdown), bone and muscle growth, and tissue repair. It also modulates glucose metabolism, which is why it requires careful medical supervision.

Common research uses

  • Growth hormone deficiency therapy (approved)
  • Lean mass and body composition research
  • Recovery and tissue repair studies
  • Anti-aging hormone protocols (off-label)

Considerations

HGH is a prescription drug with real side effects: fluid retention, joint pain, insulin resistance, and carpal tunnel symptoms. Counterfeit products are widespread. It should only be used under medical supervision with lab monitoring.
