Tesamorelin
An FDA-approved GHRH analogue studied for GH pulse and visceral fat.
Overview
Tesamorelin is a synthetic GHRH (growth hormone-releasing hormone) analogue, FDA-approved under the brand name Egrifta for HIV-associated abdominal fat accumulation. It stimulates the pituitary to release growth hormone and has become popular for its effects on visceral fat and body composition.
Dosing
Injection
- Starting dose
- 1 mg
- Common dose
- 1–2 mg
- Frequency
- 1× daily
- Notes
- Approved dose is 2 mg/day subQ; monitor for joint pain.
Reported research/reference doses for educational purposes only. Always verify against primary literature and applicable regulations. Not medical advice.
How it works
Tesamorelin binds GHRH receptors on pituitary somatotrophs to stimulate endogenous growth hormone release. The resulting GH and IGF-1 increase supports lipolysis and has been shown to reduce visceral adipose tissue in clinical trials.
Common research uses
- Visceral fat reduction research
- Growth hormone pulse restoration
- Body-composition protocols
- GHRH receptor pharmacology studies
Considerations
FDA-approved but a prescription drug. Common side effects include injection-site reactions and joint pain. Should be used under medical guidance with monitoring.
